In God's
Image
And I, well I awake as all the world
Awakes to first delight in common things.
Profuse this year the 'Autumn Cherry' glows
And in the leaden April sky it brings
Beauty's fullness by the water's edge.
Oh, that we so troubled and alone
Might leap to new-found knowledge of the soul,
Absent grief, no longer to atone
For errors and omissions of the past.
Man's days unchanging prepare for a great change
Becoming conscious of the need to grow
Into the image that he holds within,
For a higher consciousness than mind to know,
A wider heart, a body pliable
And ready for the definitive embrace,
Rearrangement of the DNA
Impossible but for the unfailing grace,
A strength to counter resistant nature's drift,
Towards entropy, death's implacable pull,
A love inclusive of all dividing laws,
A life lived joyously and to the full,
Aware, alive to divine experience,
A citizen of world's unseen, unknown
And galaxies that hold reflected light,
Of the Self aware and in God's image grown.
